Nightly Reading
Each night, your child will bring home a book from reading group in their book baggie. This book was read during a guided reading group with a teacher and their peers. It is at their instructional level. The book may seem "easy" for your child since it was already read together. The purpose of nightly reading is to reread a familiar story to build fluency and comprehension. During and after your child reads, please ask them W questions (who, what, where, when, why?) and also ask them to retell the story to you in order. This helps build comprehension and understanding.
Your child receives a sticker for each nightly reading. They are earning a chance to go to the treasure box! Please encourage your child to complete their nightly reading!
