Mrs. Stanfield's Message February 23, 2026
Dear Marilla Primary Families:
Welcome back to school! We hope you had a relaxing week off. It is great to get back into the swing of things and gear up to welcome SPRING!
Kids Healthy Heart Challenge
On behalf of the American Heart Association, we would like to thank all of you for the generous donations for this organization. The children enjoyed jumping rope over the last month and earning tokens. We raised an impressive $16, 285.90! We also crushed our building goal of $10,000 so the students will enjoy Glow in the Dark Football during PE Classes in the near future. Congratulations to Greyson R who raised the most money. Greyson will have the Marilla Gym named after him for the 2026-2027 school year.
Earth Spirit Snowshoeing – 3rd Grade
On Tuesday, February 24th, Earth Spirit will be here to take our 3rd grade students outside to snowshoe. This is a special tradition that Mrs. Peresan plans for the 3rd graders, and they love this experience. Please be sure to dress your child in layers for some outdoor fun!
Native American Visit
The Kindergarteners are studying about Native Americans in reading class. On Tuesday, Feb. 24th, they will have a visit from a tribe in Akron who will come and share all about the Native American culture.
USA Olympic Bobsled and Skeleton Teams
The second graders in Mr. Conschafter’s class had a special opportunity to write letters to members of the USA Olympic Bobsled and Skeleton Teams, wishing them well as they competed in the Olympics.
One of our students, Cam, has an aunt who serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the teams. She asked if Cam and his classmates would like to write letters to the athletes and personally delivered them while the teams were in Milan. Remarkably, one athlete received his letter just as he was being interviewed by the NBC affiliate in Milan!
Our small town of Marilla, NY has since gained national attention. Channel 4 News reached out to interview a few of our students about this exciting experience.
The segment will air this evening at 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m., and again tomorrow morning during Wake Up.
PTO News:
There will be a Baskets and Bingo Night on March 5th at Iroquois High School from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. Each class will donate items for a class themed basket. The baskets will be won during the Bingo games. Please see the flyer that came home for more information.
Thank you always for your support and for sharing your children with us!
