Mrs. Stanfield's Message May 9, 2025

Dear Marilla Primary Families –

What a busy, fun week we had showing appreciation for all of our Faculty and Staff.  From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!  You are so gracious and supportive.  The best part of this week is seeing how excited the children are to give back.  The cards, dressing as a teacher, and the lunch were all amazing!   We certainly felt the love!

With Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week ending, I want to take a moment to thank all of our Marilla Primary staff members.  Each one of us has an important role in supporting and teaching the children. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of a team of talented and inspiring individuals who consistently demonstrate their commitment to supporting our students and families each and every day.

This week, we wrapped up 3rd grade NYS Math Assessments.  We are proud of our 3rd graders for the positivity, hard work, and focus they showed during these sessions.

The children (and adults) are having fun showing their school spirit with our Friday Theme Days.  Hat Day was very fun!  Next Friday we will have Jersey Day where the children are welcome to wear their favorite jersey.  We know many are on spring sports teams, so this is a perfect day to show off their team. Also, the Buffalo Bandits are competing in the finals.  We have some big lacrosse fans at MP who are excited to wear their Bandits Swag and send winning vibes to our hometown team!

Next week Wednesday (the 14th) we will celebrate the PTO volunteers at 1:45 pm in the cafeteria.  Also, next week, on Thursday, May 15th, the Kindergarten classes will go on their field trip to Akron Acres.

This is the time of year where we start preparing our 3rd graders for their transition to the II.  The first meeting for parents will be on Tuesday, May 27th at 6:00 Pm in the MS Auditorium.  More information will be coming home with your child.

At Marilla Primary, your child’s safety is our top priority. During UPK dismissal, we kindly ask that you ensure children do not play on the steps near the cafeteria. Instead, please keep them in the grassy area by the flagpole.  As buses begin to arrive, it is very important that no child wanders near the bus loop to avoid any potential accidents. UPK teachers have already spoken with the children about these safety rules, and we appreciate your support in reinforcing them.  Thank you for helping us keep all of our students safe!

With the forecast looking good for next week, we plan to complete our final two fire drills over the course of the week.  If you have any questions about safety drills at Marilla, please feel free to contact the main office.

Finally, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all our moms!  We hope you have a day filled with some relaxation and get to do something for you on Sunday!

As always, thank you for your support!  Enjoy the weekend!
